Ciao a tutti, ho un dubbio da molto tempo.
Per esprimere un'ipotesi in inglese come si fa?
Mi spiego. Io voglio, per esempio, rispondere alla domanda "Dov'è John?" con "Starà guardando la tv!"... Con questa risposta io intendo dire che non so dov'è John, ma sono quasi sicuro che stia gurdando la tv.
Mi potete dire come si traduce, quindi, la frase "starà guardando la tv!" in questo caso?
A me verrebbe: "A: Where is John? B: HE WILL BE WATCHING TV!"... È giusto 'he will be watching tv' in questo caso? Se no, come si deve tradurre?

No, il futuro in inglese non ha questo uso. In questi casi si usa "must".
La tua frase si traduce "he must be watching tv".
He might (oppure could) be watching TV.
Non usare il futuro (will be) per esprimere una ipotesi relativa a un fatto presente o passato.
Assolutamente no. Questo è il tipico errore che fa chi traduce letteralmente da una lingua all'altra. Non esiste una traduzione per quell'espressione italiana; piuttosto di' "maybe he's watching the TV" o "he's probably watching the TV" o ancora "I think he's watching the TV", ma non usare mai il futuro progressivo per azioni che si starebbero svolgendo nel presente.
No, in quel modo non si può dire. Puoi tradurlo in questi modi:
He may be watching the tv (se la vedi come una possibilità che probabilmente è vera)
He might/could be watching the tv (se la vedi come una possibilità però poco probabile)
Maybe/perhaps he's watching the tv (forse sta etc)
He's probably watching the tv (probabilmente sta etc)
